Prestat Pink Popping Prosecco Easter Egg

Easter is fast approaching us and there are eggs aplently to choose from! This Prestat Pink Popping Prosecco egg definitely ticks the luxury egg box, presented in a glossy pink box, wrapped in pink tissue and finished a tied pink ribbon, it looks gorgeous.

The egg itself consists of a 31% cocoa solids milk chocolate shell with a fizzing pink chocolate lining, filled with mini pink Prosecco truffles made of a pink chocolate shell filled with a Prosecco infused, dark chocolate ganache centre. I must say I was pleased to see that the egg had been pre-separated, no trying to expertly half it with a knife needed!

If you read this blog often you'll know that alcohol + chocolate together isn't really my thing so I wasn't all too sure how I was going to feel about this. Popping a Prosecco truffle into my mouth you definitely got a good flavour or Prosecco, but unlike other alcoholic chocolates I've had before there wasn't an awful burning sensation, they're a lot more well balanced. Personally would I go back for more? Probably not as they're not massively my cup of tea flavour profilewise but anyone that likes a bit of alcohol in their chocolate will no doubt adore these!

Moving on to the actual egg shell and I was a lot more impressed! The chocolate has a crisp, clean snap and the milk chocolate is gorgeously, rich, with deep, creamy cocoa notets. The pink chocolate lining (which I presume is made from white chocolate) adds an additional element of sweetness and rounds off the eat nicely. It's pretty and tastes delicious!

The popping element, as with the Prosecco flavour is also quite subtle, which I was pleased about! All too often companies get a bit liberal and loose handed with the popping candy, making it feel like there's some sort of firework explosion going off in my mouth! Thankfully this isn't the case here and the pop and fizz is more of a mellow simmer compared to an explosive bang, reminding you of the slight fizziness and bubbles associated with Prosecco.

Overall a gorgeously presented, good quality, tasty Easter egg. Perfect for a gift for Prosecco lovers!

Taste - 8.4/10 - The quality of the chocolate is excellent; although the Prosecco truffles weren't really to my taste I can appreciate that this is personal preference.

Texture -8.4/10 - Smooth, rich, melt. Creamy truffle centres.
Appearance -9.5/10 - One of the prettiest looking eggs I've seen this season.
Price - 6.5/10 - At £17.50 for 170g it's pretty expensive but as a luxury treat for someone as something a bit more special at least you know the quality marries up.
Overall - 8.2/10 - Pretty and delicious.
Prosecco lovers who enjoy something with a bit more luxury to it.
